Geotechnical Site Investigations

A geotechnical site investigation is the process of collecting information about the ground conditions at a site before design and construction begin. Its purpose is to determine the type, thickness and properties of the soil and rock layers, the groundwater conditions, and any potential hazards. The results form the basis for foundation design, earthworks, slope stability, and settlement predictions. A well-planned investigation reduces uncertainty, prevents costly design changes, and lowers the risk of failures during and after construction.

Environmental Impact Assessments

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a systematic process used to identify, predict and evaluate the likely environmental, social and economic effects of a proposed project before a decision is made to proceed. Its purpose is to make sure that decision-makers consider environmental consequences at an early stage, and that measures are put in place to avoid, reduce or compensate for negative impacts. EIAs are commonly required for large infrastructure projects, mining, industrial facilities, energy developments, ports, roads and major urban developments.

Sustainable Landscape Design

Sustainable landscape design is an approach to planning, designing and managing outdoor spaces that work with natural systems rather than against them. The goal is to create landscapes that are functional and attractive while conserving resources, supporting biodiversity, and reducing environmental impact over the full life cycle of the site. A sustainable landscape needs fewer inputs such as water, fertiliser, pesticides and energy, and provides ecological, social and economic benefits
